Heh, we went from 3 to 2, by changing II to 2 in the title nice. Will be interesting to see how warcraft 2 download changes after google updates the cache for the site, we are currently at #3.

a link from that wikipedia site plus a redirect from war2.warcraft.org and all their content added to war2.ru would get us pretty close based on my calculations but it might still not be enough but eventually we could overtake it as our site will continue to get links and nobody really links to that wiki page anymore.

I really don't see that happening though, and I wouldn't want or expect Axo to axe his entire site for our benefit. Yeah we could mirror it, but still.. I dunno, maybe I'm just being sentimental.

He already was willing to do that with the forum, and nobody really visits that site anymore. If we mirrored it I am sure he would be on board. It would also get much more use and visibility on Ru.

Look at the difference between #1 and #2 in terms of clicks, it gets DOUBLE the traffic.

no follow still effects rank, not as much as do follow of course but still and it gets you some extra hits as well.

That doesn't mean it won't help your ranking tho. Not fighting, but I have read case studies on internet marketing blogs who have ranked sites using only no follow, pagerank is pretty irrelevant these days, page authority is much more accurate metric

I'd say even a link with "nofollow" could be useful for people who read wikipedia and follow the links from there.

Another problem we got several years ago with russian part and russian wiki:
Russians tried to add the link to war2.ru, but wiki's moderators removed that link quickly. No idea how to add that link to wiki to keep it permanently.

it has to not look like spam, like "download free warcraft 2" it will get deleted. it should be disguised as information. I would do it but I don't know the syntax for wiki off hand and it will take me time to do it.

It looked like "last active war2 server in the world" or "currently active war2 server". It was truth, but they deleted that link...
I'm not experienced in wiki editing, so i have no idea how to do that properly, but i agree such link would be great.
