I would have liked to but I had a lot of options.  Basketballmonster ranking of 129, he was well behind my other choices.

Seriously? Khris Middleton in the 9th round, and I can keep him again the year after this too, and he's rank 38.  Or Booker in the 10th and this is the last year I get him and he's rank 129 on basketballmonster because he's bad at fantasy and this is the last year I can keep him.  Easy call.

not sure if youre any good at fantasy but booker has a low fg%, lots of TO.  he scores points but doesnt really fill up any other stat, no steals/blocks, no rebounds, maybe a couple of assists.  i think he's a very exciting young player with a lot of talent and i wouldnt mind owning him again but i had both guys last season and it was clear who was more valuable in fantasy and as a nice bonus, it's also the guy i can keep longer.  also look at his stats two years ago (from before he was hurt), he was #30 in the nba.

me owning you for a decade straight doesn't make it clear enough?

booker has higher upside and can actually play more than 30 games in a season.

Middleton has only been hurt once and he came back from that injury early last season!  I agree about Booker having up-side, i feel bullish on his future, but is it this season up-side (since this would be the last year I could keep him) or is it up-side that will become more apparent a couple years down the line?  Middleton is going into his prime years at age 26 and when I keep him again age 27.  Booker I can't keep again.  So if Booker finishes the season ranked below Middleton that means I made the right call.  Even if Booker finishes the season ranked slightly above Middleton, I still made the right call since I have an extra year of Middleton

actually middleton (top 30ish guy) in the 9th round for TWO more seasons is so good theres just no way i could pass that up.  doesnt even matter that bookers been 100ish, his weaknesses or his strengths.  you cant pass up middleton, an established fantasy player with no real weaknesses for 2 years. thats probably the best non-1st round keeper in the league.

that's the problem with drafting rookies, when they start getting good you can't keep them anymore. i don't see any incentive to draft rookies in this league.

Ben Simmons didn't even play due to injury
Ingram was shit and didn't even rank in the top 200 in fantasy
Jaylen Brown was shit and didn't even rank in the top 200 in fantasy
Kris Dunn was shit and didn't even rank in the top 200 in fantasy
Buddy Heild was shit and didn't even rank in the top 200 in fantasy
Jamal Murray was shit and didn't even rank in the top 200 in fantasy
Marquess Chriss was shit and didn't even rank in the top 200 in fantasy
The ROY last year Malcolm Brogdon was ranked 114...

There will be a rare beast like Towns, majority of rookies are trash until they get acclimated to the NBA after 3-4 seasons.

current rookie-drafted keepers
Towns was drafted in round 2 as a rookie
Myles Turner was drafted in round 13 as a rookie
Kristaps Porzingis was drafted in round 13 as a rookie
Jamal Murray was drafted in round 10 as a rookie
Marquese Chriss was drafted in round 13 as a rookie

Those are just the ones being kept this season.  There were other big hits in the past too.  I agree it's rare for a rookie to really be a superstar in their first 3 years but it's not a bad idea to draft them in late rounds or sometimes early-mid ones

on the other hand my brother was hugely into Giannis as a rookie, drafted him in the 12th. and wanted to keep him the next season despite him averaging 7 pts 4 rebs, and again the next. and I was of the opinion that you should throw a guy like that back, and then draft him again.  Because he would take longer to develop.  but my brother was too high on Giannis to do that, so when he became a top 10 player last season that was when he couldn't be kept anymore, hehe
