I created a facebook community https://www.facebook.com/War2TidesOfDarkness

due to the nature of the page, i have the ability to "boost"(advertise) a post I make so that literally thousands can see it. I just spent $30 boosting this post. it's supposed to reach up to like 20,000 people.

Please "Like" the facebook page if you get a chance... more "likes" might look attractive to other new users viewing the page.

i just made the AD 2 hours ago... it has already "reached" 118 people. I was just playing a game with ^adam^ and mentioned it and he was like "Oh, thats your page? ... i just saw it on my timeline and "liked" it.

it's not important that they "like" my page... what's important is that they see the AD for server.war2.ru

as of right now, it appears to be our best potential tool for advertising for the least amount of money.

i can afford the $30 every so often, but the more people help me, the more we can advertise... it all comes down to how bad people want more people on the server.

But why to make the new page? Woudn't it better to advertise the old existant combat page and war2server group with 1000+ likes & members?

that type of "group" page doesn't allow the same type of advertising i dont think. i asked burnt if he had the option to advertise on the server.war2.ru group page and he said no... so i made this page to do it.

This is just from the last 4-5 hours  ... the post i made advertising server.war2.ru gets "seen/reached" by almost 100 people per hour.

i set it up to "target" a specific demographic of people ages 13-50 who have showed an interest in Warcraft 2 specificially, but also other RTS games like broodwar, war3, SC, SC2 etc...

I just added countries: Location:
Australia
Brazil
Canada
Germany
France
Italy
South Korea
Mexico
Poland
Russia

to the "targeted group"   ... facebook is saying i should "reach" 11k-22k now PER DAY. thats like 80k MINIMUM over the course of my advertisement.... right now roughly 2% of everyone who sees the ad is clicking on it. (1,600 should click it by the time the AD runs completely) .. even if only 400-500 of all those people actually log on and start playing war2 i'd say it's a huge success

Maybe iL can check how many new users compared to normal we get signed up and see if its worth it.

even if only 40 or so end up logging on and playing regularly im going to do it again ... $1 per new active user would be worth it to me.

the only 2 things that's going to keep them from being active at this point are:

1) hosting
2) people banning them from games

not many people are going to stick around on a game where they constantly get banned, and can't host their own game after they're banned.

you notice its a lot of 13-17 year olds like we use to be...guys with the free time to be quite active...

damn... once i changed those settings and added all of those countries i got like 700 more "reaches" in an hour

these people are going to be pissed when they log on and cant host lol
