this is how i see it


imagine gov is giving everyone a free vehicule


and the restrictions are being set.

one of them is, give them all honda civics
some get honda civic type-r and a few get a honda accord ex el


while the other type of rules involve

free brands for everyone
some get a 4x4 jeep,  othes get a porsche, buggati veyron or  others get a pimp my ride tuned school bus,


what would u rather see, a race of hondas or this

well
if we were to follow your THREE guidelines  proposal

your #1 'guideline' is getting an icon for getting WINS (not tourneys)

so, fact is:
people play this game. wether we have a change in icons or not.
wether they compete for the icon or wether they dont care about icons, they getting it (either way)


so
in a way, you giving them FREE & NEW icons. 
thats how i see it.

and you want to give them all honda civics

what i think is the argument here is not earned or free.

but wether to have custom icons or not.

so that poll is badly put

ok, so by 'custom' you mean user-made, unofficial, private icons? Such as "if you get X wins, you can to make your own icon and we'll upload it and assign it to your account'?
Because by other definition MASTER icon is also "custom" as its not built-in to PvPGN. do you realize how much work it would take to update and keep track of all of them on the macro scale? You see admin activity here, nothing will get done unless 1) admins agree with your concept 2) you offer to do it. You would absolutely need a forever-updated stealthbot script to separate user made icons from the 'official' tournament icons, you would have to make permissions for specific icons as one might not wish that others get his own icon while the others may agree. You would have to keep track of all the icon changed counts if you ever decide to set up a specific limit on them, otherwise you would have to prepare admins for constant work of updating icon file (someone may want to have his icon changed/improved every week). Are you the man to do this job?

and i had already mentioned its restrictions, i think you are overcomplicating yourself, you see:


it would be very restricted and the restrictions( i already mentioned more than twice but i suppose you skipped it or didnt care to read.)

- yes every interested user would create their own icons and submit them to admins

- i also said, 1 icon per person, no icons on multiple akas, just one icon on one aka.
- also said allowed icon change every 6 months,. but could be set to one year.

and on top of that, only for players with XXX amount of games, 3000? 5000?? whatever number is set...  decreases the number of players having a customized icon

now, you say, keep track of people wanting their own icons.
the procedure for submitting custom made icons would be by this forum only.
so
thats really not an issue of keeping track, admin would see his inbox and history of PMs. (by date and account)
its not like an admin needs an excel database of who submitted what and when, forum does this already.
and i think admins can spot duplicated forum accounts with ease?

also, any user caught trying to get more than 2 icons on different akas would forever dismiss their ability to get an icon.

When the .bni is done correctly I'm sure he will do it. So just make a shit ton of icons compile them with the software I used or they will bug out. So IL has to edit each profile that's currently has master, profi, etc. Unless the pic matches the tag ru originally used ..
