500 wins is a joke.

that means he agrees for customized icons but with some other higher requirement.
if anything, his vote would be on the a mix of the two section.

and theres the ganz situation, his vote isnt accountable since he isnt a player of the game.

Well PedoKing is correct, i think..., what i mean't was that we should have a mix of the standard icons and a option for customizable icons. But in order to get either icons, a user must earn them by gaming or winning tournaments like we see on Warcraft III.

+1 to Smurfking's idea.

- Awarded based on account age or number of wins/games played. (500 seems low, 8000 seems high, it's okay maybe for people who have played here for ten years but prohibitive to new players.)
- User-submitted icons subject to approval by myself or someone with half a modicum of design sense, so people don't upload just any old ugly/blurry/mspaint bs.
- Certain tags that can only be acquired by winning tournies.

Noo, but fine, I'll email the boss about it since it doesn't look like it's happening otherwise. Also, if I'm going to the trouble of adding/making/uploading custom icons all the time then I want some genuine community participation and assurance that this whole affair isn't going to fizzle and die in two weeks. You use your mad skills to create a stealthbot script that allows users to self-assign icons based on Smurfking parameters or similar. Agreed?

NO! This server is a democracy like iL said and the poll clearly shows people want earned icons only.

Earned with customizable and standard icons..... Don't see what is so difficult about that.

Also i suggest a "newb" icon for all new user accounts.

This poll is far too ambiguous to be definitive. There's no clear definition of what = earned and what = free. Smurfking's idea says "free" but suggests a minimum number of wins or years played, which sounds more like "earned" to me. A lot of people seem to favor that idea, though some people consider "earned" to be from winning tournaments only. That's too limited IMO, there aren't very many tournaments and the same few people will probably always win them.

But you needn't worry anyway, as usual there's zero interest in any outside contribution to get the idea off the ground. So here's what I see happening -- you guys use your glorious powers of democracy to figure out how you want to use custom icons. If you want new ones, make them, send them to me all at once and I'll upload them to the server. The rest is up to you lot and whichever gracious admins you can rope into assigning the icons for you. Good luck!

I mean't "earned" as....specific icons are unlocked after whatever amount of wins 500, 1000, 3000 etc. Some icons are unlocked for winning tournaments.

How is that difficult to understand.....basically I am saying don't give anything out for free.

we have a poll which turned out to be worthless and inconclusive. People are questioning the most voted option because "they didnt know what it meant" or "they didnt know what THEY meant" or "the statement was vague". delete this thread and start a proper one. No stupid ass polls, just a thread with "1 post per thread" policy.
