Here's my plan to save warcraft 2 from obscurity
« on: April 11, 2025, 07:23:43 PM »
I'm spending a lot of time on this and I don't waste my time on unsuccessful endeavors. This game has been around for 30 years and the community right now is dog shit that'll be dead in 5 years on this server/

I'm having way more fun playing on a competent client with balance changes and better controls and graphics. but you morons are sitting here playing old/ef like some autistic kids punching themselves in the face.

Fuck you - now that we've gotten that out of the way. I'm launching a website that's going to merge all 3 Warcrafts together. It's going to bring the huge Warcraft 3 community rolling back to Warcraft 1 and 2. My first step is launching the site with a speed-running tournament for the OG Warcraft 1 players with - get this - prizes for showing up.

No more top prize tournaments. Every tournament that I run in any of the 3 Warcraft games is going to reward people for showing up, no matter the results. Now here's the kicker - I need your help to do this! I'm going to fund this tournament myself, I'm also funding server costs/etc and significant amounts of my time - Is my wife going to divorce me over this? Time will tell but with your help, maybe she won't.

If any of you strategic nerds out there want to invest in your passion, I am here to serve your cause.

This is the Patreon

This approach saves me money on 1 - time donations https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/wolfandman

Give me 2 weeks to get this all out there but in the meantime give me some buffer room with your support

Also I'm not even being cocky but this website is the best website I've ever built, and you've ever seen

Edit - just for clarification - This will be the greatest Warcraft website ever made. Including all related blizzard franchises.

you made some big statements. Sorry but couldn't hold the laugh, lol !

How are you supposed to convince people to play original warcraft 1 ? That game is even more broken than War2 in some ways:

1) archers are machine guns
2) catapults can one shot half armies. Can even kill *sometimes* to melee units like Knights, even on close range
3) Water elementals/Demons are killing machines by just spamming mages/warlocks

If you want something else aside from Gow/Chop games, you can always try out my mods or the ones from Ed gorod. At this point, we have got over 25 mods.

Ed gorod has around 5 already. All of them of course available from this forum. My own are on gamebanana.

You can also support/watch/play Wargus. That community is also small and always have liked their tenacity to expand Warcraft 2 capabilities.

----------

I made another post in this forum about bloodlust fest + OrcCraft II game balance. You saw, there were no comments. People are accustomed/satisfied with how the game it is. At least, a good portion of loud people about it.

I know there may be several casual players who may want something else, yet they usually dont make themselves loud enough.

I have known how cursed bloodlust may be, even before watching any multiplayer game before 2018, yet I have given my little contribution to the game with mods, being gifts to the world, besides almost nobody cares.

----

War2 remaster could get more games, showmatches, tournaments because way more fair chance for Humans to be played, yet its up to people to motivate on it.

Well the idea with warcraft 1 is it's actually fun as a single player experience.. But the thing is a LOT of people own it, along with Warcraft 2 - as part of the remastered battle chest, which most people would buy for war3. I'm not really trying to build a community around Warcraft 1 - but giving people a reason to play it, which is naturally going to move them into Warcraft 2

And thanks for the info on the modding stuff, I will check it out. There's Wargus, yeah.. I've seen a bit with that and it is cool..

In hindsight calling everybody retards and telling them to go fuck themselves probably wasn't a great marketing strategy but I guess my point was I don't need anybody's help, but I'm pissed off that this community is unintentionally sabotaging the game's future by not making a small sacrifice in playing the new version of the game (which is a hell of a lot better anyway) and engaging with that community, or the game developers.

the only 2 things i dislike about remaster that ruin quite a bit the experience is that Menu hotkeys are missing, and cursor is not instantly set up to use Chat, so basically you have to move around and waste time each time you have to play a new game. Including to set up all options to make a new game.

Its still rusty in that sense but war2 combat does all of that well.

Aside of that, menu and options within it dont have hotkeys so its also a waste of time to move around the menu buttons as well. It saves up a lot of time between each game.

Hope it gets fixed up as it is for War2 classic.

If you got enthusiastic about advertising, I'd appreciate that you can let people know about these mods on gamebanana. Its been around 6 years since making them, but very little people try them out or give any feedback (aside of negative one that people tend to give more often)

I'm going to make a War2 Mod section on my website - I can make a video about it but maybe if you have some good videos showcasing them i can just link to your videos because i don't know jack shit about modding

turtleman,     good plan.     I like your idea about  pay $   to users for play.    if you invest  $1 000 000   warcraft2 will Great again.   I remeber Steve Wozniak(Apple)  love music  and spend about  $5 000 000 to organize own  Rock-concert.

Ldir nice to see you brother - I was hoping you may be in contact with some Russian Oligarchs to help fund this endeavor
