Forum BAN feature
« on: March 16, 2015, 12:23:54 AM »
Hi mousey/il. Possible to have a 'ban' or 'mute' or some sort of tag on users that are ban/muted etc? Right now, it is not clear who is and who is not banned when reading threads :)
This is the reason I ended it all.

When i click on user name i can see a "User is currently banned" string if he is banned. Not sure if non-admins can see that.

It's a feature I see on many boards, no need to click on the user name, it just appears besides the username/avatar with a "banned" description. I will try to get a screenshot of this feature on another board and post.

Think it's a setting. The warning system can be configured to display labels for admins only, admins + everyone can view their OWN warn/mute status, or everyone can view all warn/mute status. Right now if you're muted you get this under your username/avatar:

I thought only mods could see that.

Currently, but I'm saying I think that there's a setting controlling visibility and that could be changed to all users. There's no visual indicator that I can see for banned users though, just "Warned", "Moderated" & "Muted". I guess those are part of the "Warning module" and being banned is something separate that it doesn't cover. Might be able to manually add that into a template file, I'll look into it.

There are 2 different ways to ban:
1-st is internal ban system to be checked in profile, that has no icon in member's post.
and the 2-nd is that icon as a part of that warning module. It could be configured as visible for everyone, but it's level autodecreases every day, so ban could not be permanent.

Is that my mute tag?

yes, this is warning system.
It turns into watched or muted according to warning level.

banning system is another thing, to let people get banned for definite period or forever. You can see banned message in their profile like here: http://forum.war2.ru/index.php?action=profile;u=186

Still see no difference between mute and ban. Both take posting and PM rights away for a certain period until cool down of warning %.

Ban is unrelated to warning level, manually applied.

What the hell are you talking about both are manually applied.....its not as if Skynet has taken over these forums assigning warnings automatically.

Warnings are manually applied, once they hit a threshold then the mute feature automatically kicks in, and is automatically disabled once the warning level drops back down below that threshold. Warnings will never trip a full ban, it has to be manually applied & manually removed.

Full ban prevents one from accessing the forum at all.
