You should select combat folder and then remove that "\Warcraft II BNE" from path on top of window. Stupid changer adds "\Warcraft II BNE" automatically, but it's not needed.
You should have path: "C:\War2Combat" or where you installed this version.

Then write any name you want and your legal CD key.

I don't have the "w2cdkey" file in Utils is it downloadable in the dl section? I have the latest version 4.4

I think utils appear in standard only, not lite. And only if you don't remove checkbox "utils"...

Ok I managed to get the CD key in. But i'm still getting the message "battlenet has a new software update available updating now" whenever I launch gog in war2combat. I can't log on the gog server with it.

Software update means something wrong with exe. You should start war2 using War2noCDloader.exe from the combat 4.4 folder.
You can also right click a Warcraft II BNE.exe - properties - detailed. And then - version should be 2.0.2.1, not 2.0.2.0 or w/e.
Then everything should be ok with software to not reuire any updates...

Ok I finally managed to make it work in combat edition. I still can't play or host on the gog server lol. My ports are forwarded and I did remove my firewalls.

I made a a static IP and I attempted to forward my IP adress again still nothing. Can’t play with the gog.com server.....

I downloaded the game from GOG last night but every time I tried running the GOG galaxy to run war2 I would get a Communication error and it would immediately shut down GOG. So I installed Il's 4.4 version and if I select the GOG server it tried to update but just sits there. I'm assuming it's doing that because I can't get the GOG installed properly? I uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times so I dunno what the fuck is going on.

Its funny cause in old version there wasnt problem with ports, you coudnt host but you could join
