even WG level was close to swift level 3-4 years ago..

if Viruz logged on right now (he hasnt played hardly at all in last 1-2 years.. i'd probably beat him in a 5game series even at my level.. but viruz unrusts very quickly. WG unrusts very slowly (not unlike myself).

everyone's brain works differently.. their muscle memory etc.. some can play 10 games a month and retain most of their skill from when they peaked out.. some can take month long breaks and unrust in 30 games.

When i was playing sober.. 20-30 hours a week.. i started to get close to swift level.. by close i mean i was probably sitting pretty even with startale/braviet when they are active.

i rust quickly...and it takes me a "long" time to unrust compared to some top players. and the type of war2 i've been playing the last year has been infrequent at best, and high for the majority of it.

WG is nowhere near swift level right now.. and 6 or so months ago(thats a guess as to when he came back) he was very bad. very very bad. his skill is slowly increasing though.

there are some very serious misconceptions about how this game works especially regarding activity in this thread... SG thinking he could 1-2 me/van being one of the most glaringly obvious.

It is situational, but it is definetly possible to 1v2 you and van. Any top player in their prime could do it. I'm not sure how often tho.

nobody in the history of war2 at their best skill ever would win 1v2 me/van or someone similar in skill.. UNLESS we just got so fucking bored that we agreed to completely fuck around.

but even a scenario like that didn't even come close to working for sg.. cus that's essentially what happened in our game.  my ally dualed while I was 6. making it hard for me to defend his dual or making it impossible for him to defend me at 6. it was like the perfect scenario for SG to win a 1v2.. and not only was it obviously over 5 mins into the game..I feel confident I could have won essentially 1v1 if we agreed to tell yoyo12 to stop playing.

all I needed to do was(while sg was killing my towers) make 2 raxes hidden in 12.. take half my peons to s9 and expand.. backdoor him when he brought all of his shit to kill either 6 or s9.. whatever he found first.. I was ahead in peons and resources after it was all said and done at 12. would not have been a hard game to win essentially 1v1

I think what tk is trying to say is that if he actually dedicated real time and energy into getting good at warcraft 2 he would be one of the best.

It's up to debate how much time an energy the top players have dedicated to get as good as they are right now. I do think players like Shotgun and Swift used to day dream about how to win at war2 when they were in their early teens. The skills they developed in their youth has clearly spilled over into adulthood.
I don't think it's possible to play at the top level now without real time an effort which most of us don't have.

I will say I do think swift could probably win against tk and van 1v2 in a bo7 series. Not so sure about shotgun.
