im not really trying to troubleshoot this.  i dont care if war2 isn't on the computer because the computer is for work.  i just wanted to share the antivirus warning - that's something new players could be getting and it could stop them from installing war2.

oh, i noticed this is .zip, and the one on the front page is ftp://ftp.war2.ru/war2/War2Combat401.exe
otherwise the same, but .zip download works
recommendation: change front page link to .zip

It's not saying it's a virus! It's saying thus file is not trusted few users. And if your not admin then it's not likely you could exclude it.

I know it's not saying it's a virus.  But it still flags it for the .exe version.  Not so for the .zip version though.  We want to therefore direct people to the .zip version to avoid setting off any alarm bells.

That's already where the banner on the server.war2.ru front page links.  That IS where I downloaded from.  Actually, the download finishes but then I'm not allowed to open it.  It's really annoying anti-virus, haha.

So, did zipping help when you download War2Combat401.zip instead of exe?

I hope we will get 5 downloaders for exe soon and the problem will be resolved...

It shouldnt even be a problem...long as you have admin rights which most users have...a exe would be fine...however you should load a zip file anyways.

It's an officially supported option for combat to work with no admin rights.

Not with antivirus programs....admin rights would easily allow you to bypass that advisory that blid posted.

Sure, i agree. But antivirus programs should not write anything suspicious about combat and it's elements.

I hope there will be 5 symantec users to allow combat soon to resolve blid's problem.

google Chrome gave me flags when trying to download 4.0. In chrome i had to go to >settings > advanced setting > uncheck box that says "Enable phishing and malware protection"


then AVG gave me a flag for war2patch i think. It gave me the flag when i tried launching war2combat for the first time. I had to manually allow it.

If i never played war2 on server.war2.ru before and that was my first time trying to play the game/download it... I would have stopped after seeing Chrome and AVG give me 2 different warnings and never played the game.

i am confident it is stopping many users from downloading/installing/logging on to server.
