[unsolved]GOT SERVER TO HOST
« on: September 04, 2016, 12:37:32 AM »
I bought a vserver in germany, so I can reroute my war2 traffic, having my ports opened, and maybe solve some lagging issues of my new provider. But can't join war2 server. After entering user name and password I stick and it threw me out. But I can join any other servers in the gateway list. So I think this my server got banned IP. I need some help here.

Yes! So you purchased a VPN? I created my own VPN server and when I tried to join ru It would not let me but all other servers worked fine. I'm not ip banned either because my host bot from the same ip can join.....

This is a problem I'm afraid only iL can address.

I think it's maybe something with his AH requests. I can't get it I tried to reroute all traffic from server.war2.ru. (All ports, protocols etc). Idk why it doesnt work.

Try to execute the nocdloader.exe in the combat folder to just run regular war2 combat. Let me know if that worked.

Haha I solved that problem. Can't tell entirely but it works. I can connect if I use VPN client on my router. But still doesnt work via VPN client on the computer. Some ports/antihack/shitcheat checking?

That's a good point. So you configured the vpn in the router? So all devices are under vpn. I did that before when I changed the firmware on my router and installed ddwrt. So no current solution for running the vpn from the computer and logging in.

My vpn is PPTP and iL has the ip and account already. Hopefully he takes a look when he can ;)

I could say WOW. I solved lagging issure. I'm on wireless net, though the problem cuz of it. But analyzing traffic I understood that you will lag if u have closed udp 6112 port. You ask why I tell you cuz if u have this port closed, all game connections btw players' computers and packets going not directly but through a computer hosted the game. that's double path.
On this connection I could only play 1s, but now can host and play 4s -> very cool.

Hm, can you ping server.war2.ru from your server? If you can, then i'd say something wrong with your rerouting rules can happen.
I didn't implement any mechanizms against such rerouting.
How you reroute it? VPN?
Can you access backup.war2.ru instead of server?

One of my supposes: server blocks all the ICMP packets except request and reply. Maybe your routing scheme uses icmp redirect some way? That will be blocked by the server.

I think it's maybe something with his AH requests. I can't get it I tried to reroute all traffic from server.war2.ru. (All ports, protocols etc). Idk why it doesnt work.
AH doesn't block or change any kind of traffic, it's just an additional channel to send AH data.
I think need to look into your rewrite rules, no idea what can work on other servers and not work here...

Try to execute the nocdloader.exe in the combat folder to just run regular war2 combat. Let me know if that worked.
Also should not be related to this problem: versioncheck is totally disabled for the server.

Haha I solved that problem. Can't tell entirely but it works. I can connect if I use VPN client on my router. But still doesnt work via VPN client on the computer. Some ports/antihack/shitcheat checking?
Looks like some kind of trouble in your configuration. You connect to your VPN with default gateway disabled, right? And then write static route to server.war2.ru via your vpn address, right? I think you should look into your network traffic...
There's no any kind of checking/blocking software on the server.
But analyzing traffic I understood that you will lag if u have closed udp 6112 port. You ask why I tell you cuz if u have this port closed, all game connections btw players' computers and packets going not directly but through a computer hosted the game. that's double path.
Hm, if you close 6112 port you will receive the message "your connection is too poor..." when you connect the server, so create and join buttons will not be active for you. Or you mean some kind of non-standard routing scheme?

Anyway, would be interesting to look into your confiuration, otherwise i don't understand what you configured exactly and what's wrong with that.

@iL

For example mine will pass the screen checking gateways, connecting to server, I enter my password and login boom it just hangs after that goes to channel but everything is blank it's like the server stopped replying to me. Then I eventually get the causal msg reconnecting to server. In the blue box I'll try to screenshot it incase I didn't explain correctly.

Strange, looks like you should look into your network traffic and compare it when you use forwarding and don't use it.
Or maybe to let me look via ssh/teamviewer to make me do it myself (not sure i still have enough time for that...)
Also, what is your config? VPN with no default gw and with static route to server.war2.ru via it? Or some kind of NAT or anything else?
