custom maps can change war2 units to be for example birds will be the ground deamon and i will probably drop the 1 of the magic units. let the knights and wolves use the standard war2 spells and mage/dk with sprite changes ...without exe changes no way it can be exactly.
I'd just thought to have war2 with sprites from war1 with no gameplay changed. Replaced peon, grunt, archer, ogre (there was one in war1?), dk. Also peasant, footman, spearman, knight, w/e? Same for buildings. Same for spells and buttons.
And maybe let other units stay the same as in war2...
Anyways, that could be fun to have war1 units for war2.
Not sure how difficult is that to convert war1 grp-files to war2. But looks much more actions than just "convert.exe war1unit.grp war2unit.grp", right?

Sorry, not so much time for me for replace resources and look into war2 until it's far from finish, maybe someone else will be. I'll look to estimate that in real gameplay, but now I mainly look at your screenshots, and they looks interesting!
