But, I always love a good conversation about US military's global crimes against humanity, as well as the propaganda that fuels or at least allows it.

But I would like to read about your guys' take on if  flag desecration was intentionally made to equate to disrespect of service members in order to suppress freedom of speech and or combat people who express opinions against their government's policies/agendas through flag desecration?

Flag burning is cool for that very reason, because some people will get super weepy and offended by it which is cool.  I don't think burning flags, though, was such a powerful method of speech that anyone had to make it about disrespecting troops to disarm it.  People just make it about troops because that's what the sort of people who get worked up about flags burning naturally are gonna do.

It's kind of natural to associate it with "the troops" IMO so I agree with blid it doesn't really take a concerted effort to make that association, the flag is a national symbol the same way "the troops" are. I think they are kind of correct to take it as an attack on the military (as well as other national institutions) but I don't see a problem with that obviously and neither do most people burning flags. Like if you're the type of person to publicly burn a flag you're also probably not the type to be like "I'm burning this flag to say fuck the war, but I support the troops!!!" like a lot of retards say.
