Playing with Linux is something I do for fun, i have several raspberry pis, run LAMP webservers, centos, phone systems (centos, lamp, freepbx, asterisk), file servers, media servers, ubuntu desktops, raid arrays etc.
So I wanted to setup my own pvpgn server, not in attempt to create my own war2ru, but just for fun to learn more about linux again. Once i have my server running, it can be used as a back up back up back up for war2ru (if wanted) or less lag for US players, or maybe to host my own tournaments/ private games (but i would probably just use war2ru...)
So basically there is no practical reason why, except for fun.
Anyways, it seems most pvpgn documentation is very hard to find. As it is, the only guide i found was in russian, so i had to use google to translate. The guide was for Debian, but i tried 3 different distros before i could get the code to compile properly
Tried Ubuntu server first, then freebsd, then finally got it compiled and running on CentOS 7.
My question is:
I forwarded ports 6112 - 6119 to it, and now i can finally log in!!! However, now i cant host games anymore...
Any way to host games and run a server from the same ip?
For anyone who wants to beta test "Archer Realm" set your BN editor to server.usa-archer.com, zone -5
Again, i want to make it clear that this is just for fun for me, i deffinitely am not going to try to start my own community. That would be stupid, the community is too small as it is, and besides I do not envy the mods, i dont think i love war2 as much as they do, that i would want to spend all day managing a community and servers without a paycheck!
so if i ask questions about pvpgn it is only curiosity, please do not be offended
