Thing is, i have never lagged before but for some reason i am now after we fixed the ports.
Well, port forwarding is not related to lags, so that's strange.
Did they forward ports/firewall only or do anything more?
Well, they logged in on the router/modem as usually and first open ports 6112-6119 and 4000, then changed it to just 6112 and 4000. After that we tried host game but the message about closed port showed up. So they opend the windows firewall and allowed all W2 clients/program someway. and after that it worked for me to host.
So, can you confirm that such results are stable? No lags with some (or many different) players before fixing - lags with THE SAME players (or many different) after it?
If your result is stable, try to return your ports back to check if lags disappear or not.
Also port 6112 only would be enough. No reason to forward any other ports.
I have DSL from Telia.
My own experience with DSL (ADSL) showed that it's not quite stable. Sometimes it just became to lag, sometimes just disconnects (during the phone ring on it's line).
Maybe a coincidence?
Well same thing happened to me when i was testing 6112 and 6119. When i put the range 6112 to 6119 it did reduce my lag weirdly. I am not sure why they ported 4000-4000....they give you a reason in why they removed 6119?
That's strange. Lags should not be related to forwarded ports. Maybe some internal logic in router? So, it worked fast with 6112-6119 and slow with 6112,6119, right?
What's going on with lags if you forward nothing? Or forward 6112 only?
