to begin. install wine
then get old version of war2 installer 4.01 (maybe its still on website) if not i have it and can post.
run the installer with wine.
install
run war2 by navigating to directory in terminal (generally ~/.wine/drive_c/War2Combat/ )
and running: wine War2Ploader.exe
should start. common issues are cant type in password and join. (need a 32-bit dll)
black screen in lobby (learn to live with it, the aqrit thing slows down everything and is unusable)
slow graphics, slow gold increasing, lag when tons of things on screen. (use the real video drivers for your card, not the generic)
lose keyboard focus when tabbing out, figure out how to get focus back
there are ways that work.
ummm... other than that... life is good.
but ask questions are they arise if you want to try to get it working
