War2Combat 4.4 released! Compatible with GoG server

    Combat adapted to new official version by GoG released today.

    At the same time it's still compatible with unofficial servers.
   
       Attention:
    this version should work with GoG-server better than original Warcraft II GoG.
    But, because of GoG compatibility requirements, it works much worse than previous combats incompatible with GoG.
    Use it only if GoG compatibility is more important than everything else.
    One of recommended options - to install this version into a separate folder and use it only when you need GoG-server.
    Fixing some of listed problems - in plans for future releases.

    Version details:
    - Warcraft II version changed from 2.0.2.0 to 2.0.2.1. Because GoG doesn't support 2.0.2.0.
    As a result, all utilities for Warcraft II: war2insight, warvideo, warlatency, zwarlat, war2observe, loader+antihack and uPNP not work anymore.
    As a result, options for installing these utilities are disabled by default in installer.
    - Added new gateway for official GoG server.
    As a result, have to increase the version of gateway list to 2000. Now gateways from clients with previous version: 1001 will be rewritten after joining.
    But we have to follow official version. I hope, other servers owners will also increase their server version to 2000 soon.
    - Added w2cdkey.exe utility into utils folder.
    A reason: official GoG server requires different CD-keys from different clients. Need to change cd-key to join GoG-server.
    Where to get cd-key - is another question. For example, GoG gives cd-keys when you buy the game on their site.

You can download versions 4.4 (lite, std, full) in download section.
Please, let me know if something goes wrong with it.
It just first quick night build. Version 4.4.0
Minimal changes to just start it quickly.
I didn't upload full version on: german, french, spanish, italian, polish. There's not so much place on ftp to keep both 4.3 and 4.4 full versions. Uploaded full english and russian only.

Do we post these fixes on the GOG forums?

Is it risky? not risky? yes? no?

is it worth the risk? ... helping others play

Here's the main reason I ask.. GOG war2 has been up like 12 hours.. and i've already seen 40+ new users that we never would have seen on .ru

we need to consider how much risk we're willing to take to make sure those users stay playing.

I don't think we need to post that on the gog forums:
I think GoG will not happy to see such competitor. Their main purpose is to earn money. Our purpose is to make perfect product.
So, i think they will at least remove posts about this and maybe ban posters.

At the same time i don't think that's really risky for us: their idea is to use many different cd-keys for every single client. This combat requires to change the cd key, otherwise there's only 1 copy can join.
So, as i understand, we don't do something illegal: we don't distribute cd-keys or w/e.
But who knows...

I think the best way is to tell people about us and our releases on the server while playing with them.
Then they already have some cd-keys to use for combat and they can also compare GoG and combat.

But i think admins will know about us very soon anyways...

That works simple:
if you try to login the server with a key already logged in - you can't do it.
You have to get the cd-key somewhere to join the server.

No, one of the ways to get cd-key is to pay $10 to GoG. Antoher way is to use your cd-key from original war2bne.
I don't think we should talk about any other ways to get cd-keys as we just make legal release for GoG players who buy the game.

Exactly! Someone already joined with combat.
You should open war2combat folder, utils subfolder, start w2cdkey.exe utility and enter the legal key you bought for GoG.
