Running Legacy hardware :)
« on: February 06, 2017, 08:10:05 AM »
Hi all,

Would it be possible to connect to the servers with running legacy hardware?
What I have at the moment; (2x) Toshiba Libretto 110CT's, running Windows 95 & Cisco aironet 340 & 350.
Full access to router software (running vyos) so I can overwrite DNS'es on router level.

Kind regards,

hi on my win98 i have to use the old version.they are in the download section marked by old version.

the new 4.01 version may work, may have been just my system

i have played this game with a 486/100 (pimped out though) cd rw drives, geforce 5500 96mb ram...but it still needed some mpq editing to get it up to speed bnet is more resource than dos.

it looks like u have (intel)233mhz cpu in  the toshiba,it should play but may lag some at fastest speed + 8 players but i believe it should handle it :D

(also)
i had a celeron 300mhz desktop played war2 perfect.

(also again)
this is my old compaq laptop...it can play it but actually the 486/100 is more powerful
32mb ram and a (amd)333mhz processor, and natively runs Windows 98, 1st edition.

intel procs are usually better...just test it see how it goes :) happy gaming!

Yes,
Those are it. Have two of them, completely CF card upgarded (flash + Windows 95), including docking stations, PCMCIA floppy drive, Wifi cards (Aironet 340 & 350), CF adaptors for additional storage, manual, 3 spare batteries,  CD drive. Really one of the best 16-bit era machines around with a huge X-Factor if you can stand the small size.

Thanks for confirming it works :) will probably do a test run tomorrow. 4 would be fine, my mind probably won't be able to follow 8.

As for messing, backups backups backups. mwbackup saved me a zillion times :)
