Does anyone have any real good guess as to how much it would cost to advertise our server? or where would be good places to advertise?

Obviously the ideal place would be somewhere that has a lot of traffic from gamers, that would charge the least... im just not quite sure where that would be.

We get lots of new players on the server, the problem is keeping them there. I would say the retention rate has to be like 0.1%.

i did the advertising on popular youtube gaming channels ... i personally talked to a handful of people who saw the advertisement and came to the server to play... but you're right ganz, it was only a matter of days before they left

so i think the key would be mass advertising for a few days (multiple members of the community pitch in) and simultaneously getting active members to participate in a "host games where newbies are welcome" week or something ...

keep them around long enough to get them engaged in the community


it sure would be nice if we could fix the hosting issue all together though.

the only type of people who would consider this 17 year old game are minecraft players
they seem to like outdated graphics

Yes, a very good question!
I think we should advertise war2 in social networks. It's our future or at least the present time.
I still didn't think about payments for advertisement, let's think about that...

But i'm sure we need to make some working solution before advertise. I mean win-7-8 problems, hosting problem, SS and several more technical problems, that makes war2 difficult for new players.

We need to contact BuRnT immediately.

1) Tell him to log into his server.war2.ru facebook page (or give me the password to the server.war2.ru facebook account)
2) Go to    https://www.facebook.com/pages/Warcraft-2/108198202547978   
3)  click on "   29,025 people like this topic"  and see every single person that liked it
4) start friend requesting all 30,000 of them under the server.war2.ru facebook account

even if only 1% get on the server... we got 300 new players who have already played the game before.
