Equinox is just a person who hacks, so don't listen to him, and don't ever trust him with your details, he's a pure slimeball as he demonstrates time and time again.
Onto your question:
Is it very complicated to get it to play? I really want to play it again.
Some people have hosting issues and game joining issues, which do take a bit of technical stuff to fix, which you can get help with here on the forums. We don't know if you have this problem yet as you can't even seem to connect to the server. If it boots you back to the connect screen instantly after it says connecting to fastest server, then you could be suffering from an area range ip ban (Which isn't your fault if it is the case don't worry, its people like Equinox that make the admins go to such lengths), which if that's the case. IL or Lightbringer can fix that up for you over a private message, i'd strongly advise not posting your ip directly here.
If you can manage to get the server up and working for you, feel free to add me in game using the command "/f a PraiseVivec" and then i'll be happy to help you out, i'm not the best player, but I can show you some basic stuff to get you started, and get you into games that people would generally ban you from for being new to the server (There are alot of people like that on this server, they tend to crypticly ask you questions like "s9?" or "11?" in games to see if you are new and if you don't respond with the answer or say you dunno they'll just ban you from joining there games. And just so you know, the answer to the s9 question is "30k" and the answer to 11 is "65k"
