Current situation with main server

The main server hosting is gone.

New main server will be installed in several hours.

It's also vps, location is Netherlands.

Server has embedded DDoS protection.

DNS is already pointing to the new server.

Currently i have no backup of total server newer than January 2015, so the server will be started with very old player database.

I'll try to find newer database later. Also talking with old hosting support about to restore the lastest data.

This already happened once.

Everyone blamed $pace and Lance.
They were also  'primary suspects' (as blid put it)

Lance got banned off the forums for that if i remember correctly.

Months later it was officially confirmed the bogus russian domains and the other hostings on that server network  where being DDOSed -on the whole- and RU was just collateral damage of some other russian hacker wars...



Why you noobs dont ditch this RU domain for good and stick with mousetophers  its beyond me.
(its faster. its been always faster. regardless of the latest migration to german servers).
(Even euro players think the same)
Just do a copy paste on the player database. Fare well RU. RIP 2006 2015

It's a perfectly good name! And it was rebranded as War2.me ages ago, so there's that.

Smurfking's points aren't stupid, he's basically suggesting switching to the USA-based hosting that war2.me uses, which isn't a meritless idea. (I wouldn't recommend a straight migration of users from .ru to .me though, .ru uses new server software and has more customizations than mine.) Moving from the .ru domain to something else that looks more "trusthworthy" is an issue that's been raised several times in the past as well, but I think it's fine. The last time the server was down for any length of time was over two years ago, and no one's talked about switching servers since. The new hosting iL's setting up should do the trick.

He was suggesting giving you full control of the server and moving all users to your server. Nothing is wrong with the ru domain as can be seen by the high number of  client downloads per day.  He somehow thinks domain extensions effect latency which just isn't true.  His posts make no sense.

There is no point moving now iL has done way to much work. He currently has everything hosting seperated. Which is good, mousey is cool and smart but for security reasons I would not move. Unless il or a expert setup.

From recent events, it has certainly proved to be our backup. Might be a good idea to keep it maintained...even if it does not see much use.

I can hit it with a pen test. Find vulnerability but I will leave it up to mouse to check if they are exploitable. Just saying.
