Unable to host a game after following all instructions

Both my 12 year old son and I have completed the installation and I'm unable to host a game because of a latency issue.  It says my port 6112 is closed.  I followed all of the directions with forwarding ports and even the DMZ hosting, but it still isn't working.  Please help.

6112-6119. Both UDP and TCP?

one of the big issues i saw with most people following the port forwarding instructions is that the instructions say to use the default gateway as your Server IP address.. that's not correct. Make sure you're using your IPv4 address as your Server IP address.
