[lost]High Latency Despite Proper Port Forwarding/DMZ
« on: March 24, 2016, 12:04:49 AM »
I am having an issue with hosting/joining games on multiple computers in my home.

When I host a game, no other players can join, receiving the "Latency too high for host" error. I have not tested it with people outside my own network, but I did select the "random port" option during installation as that was what I was told to do. I have all the required ports forwarded, and it didn't work, so I tried using DMZ and it still doesn't work.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

1. You should disable/remove any forwarding rules before start war2 via loader with changed ports. Otherwise your portforwarding rules could be conflicted with rules autogenerated by uPNP.
2. make sure your ip is real (you are able to portforward 1 computer, not important, manually or using uPNP loader and then other players from the server can join you).

I disabled all forwarding rules and DMZ's and started with the loader,m even reinstalled the game with random port, tried all sorts of combinations, still not working.

I already had a static IP, then i disabled it and tried, renabled it and tried, I feel like I've tried every combination of static/dynamic/port forward/DMZ/nothing and it still just doesn't work.

Is there something blindingly obvious that I'm missing or am I having a really acute issue that I messed up?

Do you receive a message from user "note" like: "your port XXXX is closed, nobody will be able to join your game" when you create game from 1 or 2 computer?

Looks like everything is fine. If you have some problems would be better to not use uPNP. Set Game Data Port manually on both computers to different values, then open your router admin panel and make 2 forwarding rules. Also disable uPNP support on your router to prevent possible conflicts.

Say, your ip addresses are 192.168.0.2 and 192.168.0.3, ports 6112 and 6113. Make forwarding rule to 192.168.0.2:6112 (both tcp/udp) and to 192.168.0.3:6113.

I still couldn't get it to work.

I'm at a loss, but I think I'll call it quits here.

Thanks for your help.

Don't ever quit! Would you like remote assistance?

Listen closely a month ago a guy had the same problem.

Check the default gateway in the DHCP setting of the router. Make sure it's the same as the one you get with cmd > ipconfig

If it's not then you need to use that one, login apply ports settings..

Also make sure you are not being blocked by other devices, modem, router, switch, etc.

It's a sign the OP hasn't returned and non completed issue. I offered remote assistance and good advice. I would gladly set to [done] if OP returns and we can move forward and fix the issue.

Edit: orge mage now lol
