So, I am new. I have only played like 10 games. In nearly every game I have been flamed several times for being new, and not knowing how the tech works/unit composition/counters etc, and I have been banned a few times from sessions.
I guess this is normal behavior here?
-
yeah
-
Sadly yes. There are a few people who will just hurl abuse regardless. Most people will be helpful if you let them know the situation. Tell them you are new. Ask for help. Have fun.

Try to host your own games! Another pointer is to put newb in game name

RIP. Thanks for the replies, and sadly I cannot host my own games :-(

First I want you to look at it from the average war2 players perspective. Warcraft 2 is over 20 years old and many players on the server have been playing it this whole time. Players who are playing on this server take it seriously, the average warcraft 2 player plays between 20-30 hours a week. Which is as many hours a part time job would give you.
Players don't have a problem with new players, however they expect new players to know the basics before playing in an actual team game.
My suggestion for you would be to try your best to learn how to play war2. There are many war2 training vids the war2combat channel

If you are getting flamed simply use the /ignore command and squelch the one who is flaming.
Also maybe try playing against some comps. Try to make a goal of beating 6 comps without dying and without using cheats.

Stick it out, host your own games if you have to, and I promise you it will be worth it! This game rocks.

did you try the port forwarding guide? http://en.war2.ru/hosting (http://en.war2.ru/hosting) This works like 90% of the time or something to let you be able to host. If you have trouble I can remote desktop and do it for you as long as you can find the username/password for your router
You can also check this thread http://forum.war2.ru/index.php/topic,2304.0.html (http://forum.war2.ru/index.php/topic,2304.0.html) to find other new players, you can email anyone who has commented on that thread with this button:

You can also visit our discord server http://en.war2.ru/discord (http://en.war2.ru/discord) Most people there are filthy casuals and are much friendlier than you'll meet in the average gow game on the server. Discord is a voice/text chat client like skype but you can run it right in your browser without registering or anything. If you still can't find anyone to game with then hit up me or babyshark on discord in evening EST and we'll play a few

Just play rocket league or another game. You should not have to read tutorials to get a game to work 100%!
The people playing or running the server is running the game to the ground. There is too much work for il to do himself. Good luck.

Wow Tupac. Other games are not the answer. What is this treachery!?
You should be informed that Rocket League CEO Dave Hagewood said the problems with his game are totally unacceptable. If the CEO feels that way, imagine how bad it is for the players. That's one you'll want to avoid for sure.
Ah, I see Tupac's strategy here. He is trying to send you somewhere far worse, so when you return to W2, it will seem that much better.
LOL!!!!! Your the first person to notice my troll out of all these years!
BTW rocket league is cool as hell!

Good news I was able to play a couple with Firebelly today, and looked like he was in some games prior and after as well, with stats 12-9 so he seems to be getting along a little better.

Most people aren't very noob friendly, and will even tell other people to ban you sometimes, the best thing you can probably do at first is let people know you are new and ask to watch a couple games to get a good scope on things, like how to wall in your base using buildings at most locations.
Then it's just a matter of working on your speed. So if you make 2 halls or 2 barracks, your opponent whos only on 1 hall/barracks should not be making more grunts/peons then you consistently.
If you're in 4v4's or 3v3s and your speed is really slow still, i'd say just give your allys some guard towers to help them survive at least. Theres not much people can do about an unbalanced game, but if you can at least help them survive with some towers. They might be a bit more forgiving as they may feel more comfortable about leaving there base during the game.
A common thing I also see noobs doing is going Stronghold/keep as soon as the option is available to them, which is not good, you want have a decent amount of peons and not 5 when you go Stronghold. And quite often, the noobs that do get there strongholds this early don't get the follow up buildings like a Ogremound/stables or Alchemist. Which makes the entire point of going hold in the first place redundant.
It'll take a lot of persistence to deal with this community till your accepted as just an average player, most new players usually leave, so I wish you the best of luck though and do hope you stick around.

No ne wants to pard a noob. It ill make you fithgt 1v2 2v3 3v4
-
u got to be a casual player..we do not get highs from competition..and u split up the new people or just bullshit andlet them build whatever they do....doesnt sound fun but it is

I did once learn a complicated and amazing board game by the name of Agricola....
I just read this entire page and all I can think is man, I so want to play the complicated and amazing board game..
-
is there an online version of agricola?
if u nerds like board games, we can play "Through the ages: a new story of civilization" - a pretty long strategy/economy game + expansion
babyshark and whorechops?
-
I used to have people over and we'd play over and over til 4 am having an awesome time! Yes, I'm a nerd, thanks.
OMG That looks so awesome :-* I'd be seriously angling for an invite to your next game - but living in AUS is a bit of a logistics problem...
