Title: Ogres moving by themselves
Post by: Knitter on October 09, 2016, 01:38:44 PM
A few days ago Shotgun said something weird , that his ogres where moving without any order.
I coundt believe it and didnt say anything. I thought  he did hit anything by accident and forgot about.
Anyway today ive played a game vs TK and the same thing happend to me. My orgers moved across the map but i didnt click them at all. ( didnt happends once but twice )
Hahaha guys this sounds stupid but its true.   ;D

Is this a server problem? Do i have to reinstall war2?
Anyone had the same issuse in the past?

cheers Knitter

I run into this issue all the time in nib wars with peons. Ill send a peon to go mine or chop and it will keep trying to wander over to my nibs base and it takes like 5 tries to get it to finally do what i want.

yeah ive seen it a few times as well.. not often... but typically with peons like ltfan said. a certain series of events happens to where units get bugged is only thing i can think.

The AI revolution. Its starting

hard to think of a scenario where this would happen accidentally TBH. I've done some unit bugging in the past

literally i've told peons to go into gold mine for example, they walk all the way to the gold mine, stop, then turn around and go back exactly where they came from... and its happened in games where i was able to get others to stop game play, to watch it happen multiple times. literally would never go in gold mine. i'd have to build a farm or something to debug it.

they can move without your move if they were attacked and u didnt  use ground. if u are moving group ogres with move but they were attacked 10 sec ago they can change from stop to attack to unit whos where attacking

i get this with grunts a lot, like there's a skirmish outside my base and i wanna set up a choke at home and a random home grunt keeps trying to peel off and join the fight, and i keep ordering him back like 3 times and he keeps running off again before i can get him in place to hit stand geruond, and then i smash my keyboard

Are the units running to the top left of the map? Known as (0,0) If nothing is blocking the path obviously.

yea they kept running top left ....
and ya i know when enemie is infront of me sometimes they try to attack. When this happens its 1 ogre who does that.
But this time all ogres went top left ( no enemie was infront of me )

The only time I saw unlusted ogres from my pov was when they were relatively close and just got done engaging eachother.. followed by a retreat, and then I'm assuming they went back on their own. That happens a lot when the distance between the previously fighting units is not far enough apart.  https://www.twitch.tv/terror_kahn/v/93953537 (https://www.twitch.tv/terror_kahn/v/93953537)

If they're still fairly close in proximity, not uncommon for them to try to go back and engage on their own

I think it's user error.

This can be the problem from antihack or any other 3rd party software. The memory values used or set to 0,1, etc. Can effect the x,y coordinates. I've had that issue before with an old program I made. It would be really important to recreate this issue...

what has happened,i notice is say if you run them away while they are fighting or your opponent does.

they are still locked on to thier target(if still alive) and will take back off as soon as they stop if you dont use stand ground.

I've had weird things happening of late and I have to delete and reinstall war2. I had a peon i was trying to repair a rax with, but he'd walk to the barracks, then walk to the gold mine, but not go in, someone was watching the game and saw it, but I cant remember who, I tried like 6 times to no avail lol, but yeh I also had ogres doing stupid shit for no reason, no attacks or sights on enemy

I had this same thing happen like a week ago. In one game I had a group of ogres, and a group of peons randomly moving without command. I just thought it was my hacks malfunctioning.

I've experienced this with Peons when they were fighting other peons. Tried to run away with a peon that was at mid and it kept ignoring the command and trying to fight back, and froze it's attack everytime and kept trying to re-attack despite me trying to make it run, build something, or harvest gold in the middle of its fight with the enemy peon. I haven't experienced soldiers running to corners on there own yet though. Sounds like expanding 11 is annoying if the person doesn't have to scout at all to find it haha.
