Title: Harvesting cheaters, act 1
Post by: iL on August 28, 2015, 10:14:40 AM
So, as you know, antihack is working now: http://forum.war2.ru/index.php/topic,1333.0.html (http://forum.war2.ru/index.php/topic,1333.0.html)

Who have been catched for these days:
i only include people who touched hacks (switched on and probably off) being in game:
Niners, http://reportb.war2.ru/gr_20150823002435_003257 (http://reportb.war2.ru/gr_20150823002435_003257)
WarBandit, http://reportb.war2.ru/gr_20150823090637_003550 (http://reportb.war2.ru/gr_20150823090637_003550)
DDESIGNER, http://reportb.war2.ru/gr_20150823184440_004013 (http://reportb.war2.ru/gr_20150823184440_004013)
^^Zeus^^, http://reportb.war2.ru/gr_20150827111334_006373 (http://reportb.war2.ru/gr_20150827111334_006373)
8472, http://reportb.war2.ru/gr_20150828000923_006873 (http://reportb.war2.ru/gr_20150828000923_006873)

Also antihack looks working, just need some improvements to make is easier to read and collect that information. I'll add it i soon.

Also what we definitely need is to enforce everyone to use antihack.
Let me know if you have some problems with it.

YES! the anti-hack is great and there's really no reason to delay it! I think that after ~Tora~'s tournament, an appropriate channel topic should be set. And perhaps an /announcing bot? And a sticky thread here? It's really great to see all (most?) of the cheaters getting caught.

^^zeus^^ maphacking on 45men pball, pathetic...

Lol me and QUICK{hR} knew Zeus was hacking. At the start of the game QUICK was sending his mage toward Zeus and out of no where a fireball comes and hits it, pretty much obviously map hacked. So I checked the site and sure enough he was. I told him I knew he was hacking and he'd get banned for it. I don't think he ever hacked before that because I play with him and it didn't seem like it then. I decided to not send my ss to Il, I told him to stop hacking or he'd be bannned but that Il would still probably know. He was like "Me no hack anymore, sorry." or something like that. Zeus seemed like a nice guy in the past, I think he may have just been trying it out. Also if someone hacks correctly in 45 Man PBall with spell hack and shit, it can be a bitch for non hackers to take them down lol.

actually the tournament would be a great place to start. everyone in it should be required to use antihack, especially since its for money.

I'm also glad to see that all the people spotted hacking are logged, so even if no one is looking at server.war2.ru/status at the time they hack, they still got caught.  Can't wait for the first big tournaments with all people on the antihack

Next step is to program in automatic msg + automatic ban.  (This is just one possible dream :P)

First offense: "Player X hacking, first offense.  Player banned for 1 hour."  (everyone sees that including hacker, who is now dropped from game/banned)
Second offense: "Player X hacking, second offense.  Player banned for 1 week."
Third offense: "Player X hacking, third offense.  Player permanently banned."

These bans are all tracked by hardware.

Moderators are obsolete and can all be killed

A cool feature would be every time someone hacks, an automatic announcement from an admin bot sends a message to everyone saying "PlayerName is Hacking" or something like that. I think that will scare them straight in no time.

I am with Ganz on this one.  I think the announcement is probably going to be enough to scare someone straight so perhaps 1st or 2nd offense are just announcements of some kind, and adding them to a public "shame" list somewhere.  Those are probably just as good of a deterrent as a ban.  But a ban does need to be instituted into the mix somewhere,  where that is,  is up to the admins because a hardware ban is pretty harsh althought it's 100% needed for people like Bennih, Dellam, etc who will just deny their hacking even while being shown video of them doing it.

I must say though,  I am really pleased with the progress iL has made.  Things are only going to get better as both of us hack away at modifying war2's direction.

Yes, i planned, not to everyone (maybe you run hacks in empty game with computers, not sure how to handle that), but at least to whisper to players in game he currently playing.

Yes, stats transfers could be handled by bot, icons changing could be handled by bot, clans could be handled by bot also.
What else job for moderators?
