Update update - the Discord server is thriving! We have many members, custom roles, custom emotes :peon:, custom voice channels, Yamon-protection, a #tech_support channel headed by Tupac, a #cartography channel for mapmakers, and a bunch of other cool crap! JOIN NOW!!!!!!!!!!







Update - the Discord server is doing really well! Over 50 people have started using it off and on. It's super easy & fast to get started, you can use it with a desktop mic, headset, or smartphone. Download is optional on desktop. Everyone is encouraged to try it out -- you can't beat voice chat during team games, it's handy as hell!  ;D

Anyone ever used Discord? Today I tried a server hosted by tetrisbros and it's really nice. It's for text & voice chat like Teamspeak but web based, no registration required, can voice chat right in the browser (with Chrome/FF/Opera, IE not supported), and there are also desktop & mobiles app.

War2TV aggregates live streams from Twitch.tv for your viewing convenience! You can easily
browse all online streams or view multiple streams side by side.

How it works 

Visit War2TV at http://tv.war2.ru

You can leave the page open in a background tab -- when no one is online, or streams are online but not in a game then the icon is gray:


When one or more stream is playing a match the icon will change and the number of live matches will be displayed:

 
Click on a streamer's name to open the live feed on the page:

 
If no one is currently playing in a match then you'll see the link to view archived streams (stored 2 weeks after the original broadcast):




Streaming is seriously easy to set up if you have Windows Vista/7

Display Glitches

Display glitches in the server lobby (rainbow colors, overlapping windows, black boxes, etc) are now fixed in all versions of Windows with the release of a new ddraw.dll patch from aqrit! Details here. (Note that applying this fix will change the way to take screenshots in the chat lobby, more info here.)

How to install:

This is a somewhat common problem that seems to be related to Windows 10 + graphic drivers. Here’s how you can fix it.
  • Right click on desktop and select “Display properties”
  • Once that opens click “Display”
  • Select "Scale full size image" and also "override application settings"
  • Click Apply or Save. this should fix the issue.

War2Combat crashes on startup (Win 10)



If War2Combat crashes on startup you probably need to disable DEP system-wide. Follow this guide.

War2Combat crashes on startup (Win 8 & 10)



If this happens right click the war2 shortcut, select "Properties", go to the "Compatibility" tab and check the box beside "Reduced color mode" and select "8-bit (256) color" in the drop-down menu.





Missing Music & other sound effects

The music & some other sfx like pre-game briefings in the campaign are deliberately removed to reduce space & make war2combat more portable. You can restore them by replacing the "install.exe" file with a full copy from the original War2BNE.

2. Close war2 if running
3. Copy/paste into the C:\War2combat directory (overwriting the existing one)

The latest version of War2combat has display glitches in Windows 10. Here are two things you can try:

  • When installing War2combat on Windows 10 make sure you UNCHECK the ddraw checkbox in the installer. It should be disabled by default for any OS except Win7. There should be NO files called "ddraw.dll" or "ddraw.ini" in the /war2combat/ directory. (ddraw is a wrapper that fixes an error in ddraw for win7 only! It causes problems in win8 and win10.)



  • If that doesn't work you can install the previous version of War2combat (3.15), located here.



Please try these things before you make a post about Win10 issues!

Lightbringer- recently announced here abuse of the ladder and that several well-known accounts had been compromised. After looking into it this is what we believe happened:

- USA~Archer is responsible and most likely acted alone.
- He did not access the .ru database in any way. The winbotting/ladder abuse was most likely an attempt to do so.
- The passwords of the stolen accounts came from War2.me: he exploited the server database via an SQLi vulnerability in an open source ladder/stats script. (This is known for certain.) That allowed him to download the entire database and crack the password hashes, and then try the username/password combos on .ru to see if any were the same.
- So, only the accounts of people who registered on War2.me at some point AND used the same password both there and on .ru were vulnerable.

- USA~Archer has contacted a few people and denied that he had any part in this, but his story is very farfetched and impossible to verify. The most logical explanation is that Archer did everything himself, since it's known for a fact that he compromised war2.me. As of right now he's been permanently banned from forum & server.
